Leif-Erik Trulsson Rundquist

1/27/70 ~ 4/25/03

Leif-Erik Rundquist, age 33, died on Friday, April 25th, at his home near the University he loved. He had been struggling with health problems for several years, but that did not deter him from being only a short time away from achieving his Ph.D. in Social Work at the University of Utah. During his final years of graduate study, Leif-Erik had been employed at the University conducting research, teaching, and working with counseling groups. His life's work was centered upon helping others and he profoundly influenced the lives of many. Leif-Erik was known among his professional colleagues for his keen intellect, his insightful research and writing, and his deep and genuine concern for each of his students and clients. His friends and associates found in him a kind, gentle, witty, generous and sensitive friend who was consistently more concerned about their happiness and well-being than he was his own. He is survived by his parents, Stephen & Gundl Rundquist, his siblings, nephews, extended family members in Austria, and a host of dear friends here whom he loved very much. Services for Leif-Erik will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St. in Midvale, UT. There will be a public viewing at that location on Wednesday, April 30th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM the following day, Thursday, May 1st. A Memorial Service commemorating Leif-Erik's brief-yet-benevolent life will begin at Noon, following the viewing. This service will be a celebration of Leif-Erik's academic excellence and his consummate professionalism, but-most-of-all his devotion and service to others far above self. Leif would have invited you to leave the suit at home, or at least loosen the tie, and come dressed casually, in whatever is "congruent with your whole, genuine, complete and authentic self."
